Arturo Ayala, Group controller

"It is a company that is balanced in the right way : Randstad values and trusts its people, but at the same time strives for performance and being the best."
Arturo Ayala

Group controller at Randstad Holding in the Netherlands

I am the Group Controller for Italy, Spain, Portugal and Brazil. My job involves working closely with the Executive Board of the group, supporting their decision-making process regarding the companies’ financial performance, strategy and growth priorities, corporate planning and initiatives, as well as M&A activity. They expect me to have a clear overview of the Operating Companies and the external environment; e.g., market trends, competitor benchmark, the political and economical situation, legislation developments, M&A landscape, etc.

On the other hand, my responsibilities to the Operating Companies challenge them in terms of financial performance, and at the same time, drive them to mitigate risks and capitalize opportunities. In addition, best-practice sharing between the different companies is a permanent item in my agenda.

I have always felt that Randstad is truly about people. Trust is the base of the interpersonal relations within the company, and I notice daily how building productive relationships help the business. People trust each other, and this gives us the freedom and independence to carry out our work. I have learned at Randstad that business acumen and technical financial expertise are meaningless if we are not able to inspire, stimulate, motivate, influence and convince others. It is a about creating impact to successfully contribute to the business and generate value.

I have a BSc degree in Industrial Engineering from ITESM Monterrey Tech in Mexico. I also hold a MSc degree in Finance from the EDHEC Business School in France.
