Randstad's Construction, Property and Engineering Division are currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer for a key client within Local Government. This is a temporary vacancy for a candidate who is available to begin the contract in November 2016.

Within this role you will be reporting to the Team Leader Environmental Health and will be responsible for monitoring, investigating and enforcing matters related to the Food Act, Public Health Act, Supported Residential Facilities Act and associated Regulations, Codes of Practice, Standards and Guidelines and professional practices.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assess food premises for compliance
  • Investigate food complaints
  • Investigate and provide advice with water systems and supplies (wastewater, stormwater, etc)
  • Inspect public swimming pools and spas in accordance with inspection schedules
  • Assist with licensing Supported Residential Facilities (SRF)
  • Assist with personal hygiene and food handling presentations
  • Assess and provide advise on food premises fit-outs

To be considered for the role you will possess:

  • Experience in Environmental Health (post grads will be considered)
  • Sound knowledge of Food Act, Public Act and associated Regulations, Codes of Practice, Standards and Guidelines
  • Knowledge of Housing Improvement Act, Local Government Act, Development Act, Supported Residential Facilities Act, Building Code of Australia and Environment Protection Act will be beneficial
  • Well developed communication skills
  • Strong customer service ethic
  • Innovative and practical approach to problem solving and negotiation
  • Excellent organisational skills
