The Role
As the Director of Science, you will be instrumental in shaping the delivery of our science curriculum across the key stages. You will lead a dedicated team of educators, ensuring that teaching is both effective and innovative, and supports the learning needs of all students. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Science department that aligns with the school's overall educational philosophy.
- Lead, manage, and support the Science teaching staff, promoting continuous professional development and excellence in teaching practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the science curriculum through rigorous assessment and quality assurance measures.
- Ensure the delivery of an engaging and diverse curriculum that inspires and challenges students.
- Foster an environment that encourages scientific inquiry and critical thinking skills.
- Collaborate with other department heads and the senior leadership team to promote interdisciplinary learning.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively.
- Engage with the wider school community, including parents and external organisations, to promote the sciences.
About You
- You hold a qualified teacher status (QTS) in the UK.
- You have a proven track record of successful science teaching and leadership across multiple key stages.
- You possess excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate both staff and students.
- You have a strong understanding of the current educational landscape and curriculum requirements for science.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- You are passionate about science education and committed to the development of best practices in teaching and learning.
