Location: Redbridge, London
Salary Range: MPS/UPS + TLR 1 (£9,273 to £15,687), or L8-12 (£59,826 - £65,631) (to be negotiated dependent on experience)
A secondary school in Redbridge, London, is seeking an exceptional individual to join the team as the Head of Science/ Director of Science. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire the Science department, driving forward excellence in teaching and learning.

Role Overview:
The Head of Science/ Director of Science will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Science department and driving improvements across the school. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead by example, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for future success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a compelling vision for the Science department, aligned with the school's overall vision and ethos.
- Provide leadership and development opportunities for all Science staff, celebrating good practice and driving progress in key areas.
- Prepare and implement a Science Development Plan in line with the School Development Plan.
- Lead the continuous improvement of the Science curriculum, ensuring it is responsive to the needs of students and meets statutory requirements.
- Champion equality of opportunity and outcomes for all students, with a particular focus on narrowing the achievement gap.
- Foster a culture of high-quality teaching and learning, providing support and guidance to staff to ensure excellence in the classroom.
- Collaborate with the Quality of Education team to enhance teaching and learning practices, including remote teaching.
- Oversee the provision of impactful and high-quality resources for Science lessons, both in classrooms and online.
- Lead the development and implementation of departmental policies and practices to promote high achievement.
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher status and relevant experience in teaching Science at a secondary level.
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment practices.
- Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the school community.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.
- A passion for delivering high-quality education and driving continuous improvement.
