... About the Role - Kaiawhina Public Housing Coordinator
Te Rūnanga o Kirikiriroa is looking for a passionate and dedicated Kaiawhina Public Housing Coordinator to join their team. In this role, you will build positive relationships with whānaunga, support their housing needs, and connect them to services. You will guide whānaunga through changes, help with tenancy commitments, and ensure their home is fit for purpose. Collaborating with maintenance, you will manage maintenance requests affecting whānaunga
well-being.
Position details
- Monday to Friday, 8.30 - 5.00pm. Please note on occasions you may be required to work outside of these hours, depending on the support needs of whānaunga
- Salary banding $70,000 to $75,000 (depending of qualifications and experience, aligned with pay equity)
A day in the role
- Identifying and respond to housing support needs
- Assist in meeting tenancy commitments and with settling into their home
- Collaborate with the maintenance team around maintenance requests
- Ensure compliance with tenancy management obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act
- Adhere to relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and codes of ethics/practice
- Identifying and escalate risks to the Housing Manager as required
- Maintain records in alignment with guidelines and standards
We are seeking Kaiawhina Public Housing Coordinator who
- Will be experienced in working with individuals facing housing and wellbeing challenges
- Demonstrate strong empathetic skills for building relationships and connecting with a diverse range of clients
- Have the ability to deescalate emotional situations and engage in strength-based conversations
- Display strong observational and analytical skills for problem-solving without bias
- Have effective communication and relationship-building abilities
- Present cultural awareness for aligning with whānaunga aspirations, especially with Māori and Pasifika
- Strong self-management, planning, and time management skills
- Will be proficient in Microsoft products and technology
- Have knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and Business Online Services
- Have the ability to manage boundaries, exercise ethical judgement, and apply policies

- Current full New Zealand driver's license
