One of the UK's foremost independent co-educational day and boarding schools, situated in Edinburgh opened its first overseas campus in Guangzhou in 2020. The school is very closely linked and shares its ethos and vision: to provide the highest quality of holistic, broad based education that will stretch and challenge its pupils and equip them with the qualifications, skills and personal qualities that will allow them to flourish and succeed in their lives beyond school.
The curriculum offered is bilingual and draws on the strengths and rigour of both Chinese and British pedagogy, leading to IGCSEs and A-levels or the IBDP.
Living and Working in Guangzhou
The school is located on a spacious and superbly equipped campus in Zengcheng, bordered by forest and hills and yet within an hour's drive of the centre of Guangzhou, and of Baiyun International Airport. Known as a very green city, Guangzhou has been voted one of the most live-able in China - it is close enough to Hong Kong for wonderful weekends away and has its own large expatriate community with all of the activities to match the typical expat lifestyle.
Requirements
- Fully qualified with a minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience
- A passion for teaching and excellent subject knowledge
- Familiarity with the UK and/or IB curriculum
- A commitment to engage fully in the life of a boarding school, Participate in school duties, evening self-study, co-curricular activities, and individual tutorials where necessary
- A commitment to support an outstanding holistic education
- A commitment to innovation and self-reflection
- Experience of working in a boarding school and or working internationally is an advantage
