Yew Wah Tongxiang
YWIES Tongxiang opened in 2017 and offers an education programme from Primary to Upper Secondary, with courses for Grades 1-9 aligning with the Chinese National Curriculum and blending the essence of the Eastern and Western education, preparing students for future studies.
Living and Working in Tongxiang
Tongxiang is a very scenic town, 45 minutes from Shanghai on fast train. It offers a slightly quieter pace of life but with the attractions of Shanghai not too far away. The location is known for its fascinating ancient culture and is a hub for Music (Opera). Its location by the River Delta means its full of canals and is the "Venice of China".
School Requirements
- You should be a qualified teacher with a minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience
- Experienced with qualifications around teaching EAL learners. A preference would be with Chinese students, but this is not necessary.
- Preference for someone with experience in the IGCSE curriculum.
- The ability to differentiate for EAL students
- Experience/background with bilingual/multilingual teaching strategies
- You should have an inquiry based approach to your teaching and an ability to work well within a variety of cultures.
- Previous experience of working with EAL (Students with English as their second language is desirable).
- You will need to be adaptable and flexible and have a positive approach to life, willing to contribute to the continuing development of this great school.
