Bridging the Gap (June 2010)
"Bridging the Gap” is a follow-up to the 2007 study “Mind the Gap”, which outlined the skills shortages, aging demographic and declining population in Europe. It also follows on from the 2009 publication “Drivers of Participation”, which focused on driving up employment participation among certain groups, such as older people, women returning to the labor force and the long-term unemployed.

Drivers of Participation (March 2009)
Drivers of Participation is the next step following the Mind the Gap report Randstad published with SEO in 2007. In 2010 a complete follow-up study will be published.

This pre-launch already addresses some relevant issues:
- the Lisbon employment targets will not be met - with or without the recession
- we need to further increase participation rates to fill the gap of 30,000 people in 2050 in the European labor market, a gap caused by the demographic crunch (aging & declining population growth)
- we identify several drivers of participation & best practices to raise the participation of women, elderly workers and long-term unemployed
- temporary agency work plays a pivotal role in creating a sustainable labor market
