Drivers of Participation - March 2009

Drivers of Participation is the next step following the Mind the Gap report Randstad published with SEO in 2007. Later this year a complete follow-up study will be published.

This pre-launch already addresses some relevant issues:

  • the Lisbon employment targets will not be met - with or without the recession
  • we need to further increase participation rates to fill the gap of 30,000 people in 2050 in the European labor market, a gap caused by the demographic crunch (aging & declining population growth)
  • we identify several drivers of participation & best practices to raise the participation of women, elderly workers and long-term unemployed
  • temporary agency work plays a pivotal role in creating a sustainable labor market
