Employment activity within the IT industry shows that the demand for software developers remains strong in Europe, it has been claimed.
Computer Weekly reports that one firm, Trayport, has noted that competition among IT firms to recruit software developers has been fierce in recent months.
Furthermore, it told the news provider that it has lost several software developers to competitors of late.
It began to "see a number of the very best candidates still receiving offers while undertaking interviews with us," the firm added.
Chris Skinner, chief executive officer of Balatro, a commentator on financial markets, said, "Traders and investors that are not performing will always be cut, whereas people with specific technology skills are always in demand."
In the US, IT jobs are currently defying the recession, with recruitment activity remaining relatively healthy in the sector, according to David Foote, chief executive officer of technology consultancy Foote Partners.
