Employment in education has increased over the last year in Hong Kong, newly-released statistics have revealed.
According to the figures from the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD), employment in the sector rose by 4.6 per (6,900) in March compared to the same month in 2008.
The human health services experienced an increase of three per cent (2,600), while employment in the accommodation sector rose 2.7 per cent, or 800 positions.
Released yesterday (June 22nd), the statistics also indicated that transportation, storage, postal and courier services increased by 1.6 per cent, while positions for manual construction site workers increased by 2.8 per cent.
The C&SD statistics also revealed, however, that employment opportunities in the manufacturing industry fell by seven per cent.
Similarly, import and export trade experienced a 4.7 per cent drop, while wholesale trade fell by 3.1 per cent.
Employment in the private sector also fell, with a one per cent decrease over the year.
