A recruitment expert in the US has claimed that the healthcare industry is the safest sector to work in at present.

Jerime O'Connor, senior director of recruiting firm Jobing.com, was speaking at a recent jobs fair held in the Tampa Convention Center, Florida, reported bizjournals.com.

He said: "Health care - it's the most stable industry out there" as thousands of jobseekers attended the event to look for work.

Around 70 firms, such as department store Macy's, Bright House Networks and Raymond James Financial, featured at the fair.

The website reported that other individuals representing their respective companies were in accord with Mr O'Connor's claims as the healthcare sector recruitment appears to remain healthy in the current economy.

Established in 2006, Jobing.com's fair is held in the area every quarter and aims to provide opportunities to those looking for work or considering a career change.

In other employment market news, a survey conducted last month in the US revealed that 70 percent of Americans would like to see flexible working become more of a feature throughout the country.
