Hong Kong unemployment falls
Hong Kong's jobless rate for the three months to October declined slightly, the city state's government has revealed.

The Census and Statistics Department for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region disclosed that the period recorded an unemployment rate of 5.3 per cent, compared to the 5.2 per cent in the three months to September.

Specifically, the data agency announced that the construction, food services, insurance and wholesale sectors all witnessed declines in unemployment.

This drop in joblessness was also recorded in labor market members aged between 15 and 19.

Matthew Cheung, secretary for labor and welfare, believes that unemployment rate will continue to decline in the coming months.

He said: "As business conditions continue to improve, employers are expected to adopt a more positive attitude towards new hiring. This will ease the pressure on unemployment."

The city's unemployment rate hit a low of 3.7 per cent in 2007.ADNFCR-1275-ID-19468359-ADNFCR
