Microsoft has reasserted its commitment to the IT sector in Thailand, promising to help 15,000 people find employment in the region over the next three years.
The international technology corporation, which is headquartered in the US state of Washington, will begin a project this month in the Asian country entitle Building Employability Through Technology and Entrepreneurship Resources (BETTER).
Forming part of Microsoft's Elevate American scheme, which aims to reduce unemployment outside the US, the Thailand project will train 300,000 people in IT through grants of $350,000, the Bangkok Post has reported.
Jean Philippe Courtois, Microsoft International's president, underlined the reasons behind the implementation of the scheme.
He said: "It helps to give a new set of skills to the young generation for getting jobs in the next five to 15 years, and it's a foundation for building a creative industry."
Microsoft has bases in numerous locations worldwide and is currently valued at around $169 billion.© Adfero Ltd
