The prime minister of New Zealand is 'not doing enough' to prevent job losses and create employment opportunities.
That is the opinion of Labor party leader Phil Goff, who has criticized John Key following the prediction from the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research that 60,000 jobs will be lost over the next year.
Mr Goff made his comments on Tuesday (June 23rd) and suggested that previous promises regarding employment have yet to be kept by the country's government.
He noted that in February the party said its Jobs Summit would help to secure jobs or establish new ones, but the plan does not seem to have worked.
"Over 1,000 Kiwis a week are joining the dole queue. New Zealanders are crying out for more action from the government to preserve jobs but John Key isn't listening," Mr Goff commented.
The politician added: "New Zealand needs focus, fresh ideas and solutions to tackle unemployment."
