US president Barack Obama has pledged to hold a jobs forum with the country's business leaders next month.
The 44th US president - who is currently travelling in Asia - announced that a conference will be held on December 3rd with the aim of lowering the country's double-digit unemployment rate.
The White House will invite chief executives, small business owners and economic experts to discuss ways that the Democratic Party-led administration can improve labor market participation.
In a statement President Obama said: "We have a responsibility to consider all good ideas to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country."
The US unemployment rate reached a 26-year high of 10.2 per cent in October, according to the labor department.
Following this forum, President Obama also disclosed that he will embark on a tour of the US to experience the situations that normal Americans are living in during these challenging economic times.
