Reduced demand for US visas among IT specialists 'just temporary'
The number of specialist IT workers heading to the United States for work is expected to rise over the next few months.

Just recently, it was revealed that some 12,000 places were still available on the H1B Visa scheme, more than 12 months after employers were invited to submit their applications.

However, employment and immigration experts have now labeled this lack of interest as a one-off 'blip', with the days when all 85,000 visas were snapped up by employers in just one day likely to return before too long as the economy picks up.

"It's almost impossible for me to believe demand [for H1Bs] will lessen long term," Peter Bendor-Samuel, founder of the consultancy firm the Everest Group, told Business Week.

"I find it mildly surprising there are some extras left now."

He added that the growing number of foreign nationals studying math and science degrees in US universities will also help to push up demand for visas as they attempt to land IT jobs in the States.

To obtain an H1B visa, applicants must hold at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent.ADNFCR-1275-ID-19448033-ADNFCR
