A boom in the Australian resources sector is increasing demand for workers to fill roles in the field, something that UK students have been advised to consider.
This is according to website Gapyear.com, which noted the growth in
industry jobs could provide an opportunity for the estimated 200,000 university applicants in Britain who are thought to have failed to secure a place in higher education this year.
With thousands of prospective students and graduates facing an employment squeeze, the company has advised them to look Down Under for opportunities as there are currently labor shortages in the country.
The report stated experts have forecast tighter competition for university places next year, with work experience gathered in Australia potentially boosting the chances of securing one.
Positions available range from office workers and skilled laborers to accountants, while individuals are also needed to fill healthcare or legal jobs in Australia.
Recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that the nation's gross domestic product expanded by 1.2 per cent during the June quarter of 2010, up year-on-year by 3.3 per cent.
