Talent Relations Specialist- Ontario & Western Canada
(Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan & Nova Scotia)

Contract Length: 1 Year

Overview:

This position provides support to all LOB’s in handling employee relations matters for the company’s temporary and permanent workforce located in Ontario, BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba & Nova Scotia.

Talent Relations Specialist- Ontario & Western Canada

Main Responsibilities:

•Oversee all matters relating to the employee complaint and investigation process under the direction of the Sr. HR Manager
•Provide direction and support on employee relations matters to ensure consistent application of company policies, best practices and governmental legislation
•Investigate allegations of infringements of various legislation including the Human Rights Code, and the Provincial Employment Standards Act
•Collaborate with the Health & Safety team with infractions allegations on infringement under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act etc.
•Personally investigate/oversee escalated and difficult claims, working directly with the legal team on high-risk situations
•Ensure comprehensive documentation and follow through on required actions and/or recommendations
•Provide subject matter expertise to the field on legislative standards, ensuring the company is meeting all regulatory requirements
•Participate in the creation and roll out of internal tools used by field employees
•Assist in drafting performance improvement plans, return to work accommodation plans, disciplinary or termination letters for the temporary workforce
•Deliver training to the field on employment matters to improve their overall understanding of the legislative and company requirements
•Promote proactive management practices and risk avoidance techniques
•Maintain records, and prepare regular reporting on the number and nature of claims and complaints
•Identify trends, and make recommendations to reduce risk and improve compliancy
•Conduct any general duties, specific projects and responsibilities as assigned by the HR management team, VP HR, or General Counsel in a timely and professional manner

Talent Relations Specialist- Ontario & Western Canada

Education, Skills & Experience:

•College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources Management
•3-5 years’ prior experience in human resources, with a focus on employee relations, or labour relations
•Well experienced in conducting workplace investigations
•Knowledgeable in employment law matters and provincial standards in ON, BC, AB, SK, MA, NS
•Bilingual in both official languages (French/English) is an asset
•High degree of proficiency in MS Office

Other Requirements:

•Due to the nature and function of this role, the ability to work overtime and non-standard business hours may be required from time to time
•Candidates must be willing to travel occasionally to branch locations within the GTA
