School Overview: This is a well-respected Montessori school in Beijing, providing a strong academic programme in both its English-Only and Dual-Language Programmes. The school has been in existence for over 28 years and is a member of the American Montessori Society. The school is committed to providing the best educational and developmental experience for over 400 children from early childhood to Grade 6 (18 months-12 years old), providing students with a strong academic foundation in all subjects, as well as the necessary skills for success. In 2012, the school moved to a beautiful new campus comprised of two main buildings with art and music studios, children's kitchens, libraries, science lab, gyms and a Coffee Stop; a refreshments area maintained by the school's Parents' Association. A separate multi-purpose hall contains a stage and indoor ball court. Outdoor facilities include two all-weather sports fields, a running track, a sandbox, a basketball court and 5 playgrounds.

Location Overview: Beijing is a bustling city with more than 13 million people in an area the size of Belgium. The Beijing Municipality is flat and has a very orderly design- north, south, east and west circumnavigated by six concentric ring roads. The Beijing seasons are clearly marked by changes in weather and temperatures, and surprising splashes of colours. Beijing today is a city of contrasts- the new intermingles with the old, as the whole city develops rapidly. Beijing also has to a sizeable expatriate population and you will find countless opportunities for a great social life - there is something for everyone here and western amenities are plentiful.

Responsibilities:



* To be a member of the Senior Academic Team to serve the academic needs of the school
* To be a member of the Senior Administrative Team, to assist in serving the interest, growth and development of the school
* To represent and uphold the school's mission statement and code of conduct
* To coordinate the implementation of this vision for the whole school
* To oversee and maintain the school's curriculum and delivery of the Montessori inspired pedagogy
* To model the essential Montessori principles and inspire the staff to create and provide stimulating and enthusiastic Montessori inspired learning environments
* To facilitate the daily mechanics and scheduling of the school day and year
* To ensure that all members of the Academic team are familiar with their responsibilities as laid out in their job descriptions
* To maintain a knowledge of all students, their progress and development
* To maintain an active awareness and acquaintance with the parent body
* To conduct parent conferences with staff to support on-going communication of student progress
* To support the staff with the management of student behavioural, social and emotional issues
* To meet with the academic coordinators regularly and conduct curriculum planning sessions for the development of units of study and lesson planning
* To organise regularly scheduled coordinator's meetings
* To oversee the development of a clearly articulated, working curriculum
* To review weekly lesson plans which will outline the goals, content and support resources to be undertaken in all the classrooms
* To oversee the development of resources for the Academic library which will support the on-going development of the faculty
* To coordinate the yearly orders of materials, books, resources and supplies
* To prepare and maintain the academic sections of the Teacher Handbook
* To prepare and maintain the academic sections of the Parent Handbook
* To maintain weekly informal classroom visits on a rotational basis
* To maintain formal classroom visits followed by formal classroom evaluations, twice a year for each instructional staff member
* To support staff emotionally and intellectually to meet their daily needs and demands of their vocation
* To meet weekly with each staff member in a "touch-base" to remain abreast to the development of each classroom and student

Requirements:



* Fully qualified with a minimum of 8 years teaching experience
* Montessori qualifications (Early childhood and elementary Montessori certificate) is preferred, but not necessary
* Experience in US style education preferred
* Master (or higher) degree in Curriculum and Instruction (or related) preferred
* Enthusiastic, outgoing nature
* Ability to embrace a team teaching concept
* Ability to work in a team and team management experience is required
* Enthusiasm for new cultures and experiences
* Creative problem solving skills and able to support your team member for solving problems
* Able to provide suggestion or supporting for curriculum planning
* Rich experience in parent communication and student management
