Overall Role Summary: 1.Provide "right first time" tooling solutions for plastic injection moulding machinery within the manufacturing facility. 2.Responsible for ensuring tooling in on time and to budget ensuring they meet customer requirements managing resources to achieve the desired output. 3.This is very much a ‘hands-on’ role. 4.Facilitate weekly continuous improvement sessions promoting best practice and health and safety additionally to improvements to tooling provision 5.The Project manager (Tooling) will work on new or LCM projects from the RFQ stage, through order placement, supplier management, buy off, commissioning, final sign off and acceptance. 6.Project manage projects to the agreed development process and deliverables (miss not steps) 7.Report weekly status of Project timing plans with tooling, equipment and component suppliers. 8.Lead all project engineering activities through design, manufacture and sign off tooling at suppliers. 9.Confirm RFQ Documents for suppliers to quote tooling against 10.Ensure that the supplier delivers quality documentation on product quality for build phases including ISIR, capability studies and surface finish assessment for signoff. 11.Confirmation of adherence to Tooling Standards (Tooling and Press specifications) 12.Manage and build new relationships with internal and external stakeholders Key Responsibilities & Activities: 1.Participate in developing and maintain relevant engineering processes and procedures 2.Support the identification of business opportunities 3.Problem solving on existing products and product improvement 4.Responsible for evaluating technical issues in order to develop proposals for investigations and/or solutions. 5.Plan, control and deliver assigned projects, ensuring requirements are delivered to plan and budget (managing a number of projects at any one time) 6.To work alongside the customer on new and existing product development ensuring delivery of solutions to meet the customers’ requirements 7.Keep up to date in relevant technical areas; develop skills and capabilities and supply support and expertise to others as required (including supporting the development of the newly appointed engineers as required) 8.Excellent working knowledge of problem solving and failure mode avoidance tools (Six Sigma 8D and DMAIC) 9.Extensive project management, process improvement and strategy development experience, ideally Prince 2 qualified. 10.To ensure that any changes to product specification, project scope or deliverables requested by the customer are identified and considered for their commercial and timing implications and that they are communicated to the relevant Commercial Manager before agreement and implementation ensuring uncontrolled creep of project scope does not occur. 11.Motivate the project team to achieve overall programme needs. 12.Support lean activities
