1. US and Japan GAAP Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Support Japan Controllership Financial Reporting team on adherence to local and Global Financial Governance policies in order to maintain accurate financial reporting and effective financial accounting processes.

  • Support Japan Controllership Financial Reporting team on all financial reporting analysis, such as the monthly balance sheet review, quarterly corporate financial reviews and other analysis for presentation and review to the market Controller, CFO and CEO.

  • Support the Director-Consolidations to ensure timely delivery of all reporting request including, but not limited to, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting, monthly financial package reporting and account reconciliation review reporting.

  • Support Japan Controllership Financial Reporting team on analysis of company’s financial risks and potential exposure through rigorous review of the financials and address any potential impacts to the company’s financial performance; supervise analyses to drive financial performance by identifying new opportunities through business intelligence and analysis; providing insight into operational and financial historical and prospective trends.

  • Support the Director-Consolidations to lead statutory audit and local statistics reporting to ensure full compliance with no delay. 

  • Support the Director-Consolidations to liaise with both internal and external auditors to resolve issues related to financial reporting and controls.  

  • Support Japan Controllership Financial Reporting team to enhance accounting reconciliation process and quality throughout the organization.


2. US and Japan GAAP Financial Consolidation

  • Drive the production and delivery of the monthly U.S. and Japan GAAP financial statements, ensuring they are performed in a timely, effective, accurate, and efficient manner to meet all reporting deliverables. 

  • Ensure accounting work in subsidiaries to create domestic consolidated financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.


3. Accounting Policies

  • Understand accounting policy.

  • Support the Director - Consolidations to ensure local practices are in line with accounting policy and properly documented.

  • Understand US and Japan GAAP and impact on retail business.

  • Support the Director - Consolidations to review, or document, draft policies submitted for review by Corporate.

  • Support the Director – Consolidations to understand local, and other, statutory policy changes as they arise.

  • Support the Director – Consolidations to ensure local business is made aware of upcoming policy changes and impact is accurately forecasted.


4. Japan Shared Services

  • Support Japan Shared Services to ensure financial accuracy of activity maintained within Japan Shared Services organization.

  • Partner with direct reports, business functional areas and Japan Shared Services to improve business process and optimize accounting system information.


5. People Leadership/Support Global Controllership Organization Effectiveness

  • Develop team members (manage objectives and offer advice)

  • Ensure ethical guidelines thoroughly.

  • Support the Director - Consolidations to drive Global Controllership initiatives both in the area of Financial Reporting, Consolidation, and other Finance areas.

  • Support the Director - Consolidations to drive organizational change that maintains an effective Global Controllership team that aligns with a global functional design.

  • Liaise Global Finance and Controllership teams, and local leadership team, to assist with driving the effective implementation and sustainment of any Global accounting and finance initiatives (e.g., SAP implementation, HFM, ABS, etc.).

  • Ensure that local Company associates are provided technical guidance on local GAAP, U.S. GAAP, and Global Accounting Policies by assisting with education on current GAAP concepts, evaluating and identifying solutions to technical or routing accounting issues, and researching and providing input on complex accounting matters.
