About the Organisation:Our client is an industry leading Australian medical research company, specialising in disease research. They are in need of an Immediately Available senior Accountant to join in the finance team to produce quality accounting and exceptional stakeholder management. You will report directly to the finance manager and provide ongoing support and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders across the organisation. This role is a 6 month contract with the possibility to go permanent at the end of the contract. Your position includes:• Overseeing and performing of the financial accounting function• End to end financial activities and reconciliation through to Trial Balance • Complete end of month reporting in strict accordance with the Group Finance reporting timetable • Performance of end of month postings, allocations and accruals • Balance Sheet reconciliations • Reconciliation of payroll transactions to Group Payroll reports • Reconciliation of any internal loan accounts • Ensure integrity of General Ledger and all transactions • Ensure Fixed Asset Register, Debtor and Creditor Control accounts are reconciled to relevant sub-ledgers • Assist with audit requests• Additional duties as requiredAbout you:• A Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent)• Relevant post-qualified certification (CPA/CA) desired but not necessary• 3+ years commercial accounting experience - within the healthcare/research sector is desirable but not necessary• Excellent knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and regulations• Demonstrated understanding of financial processes and internal controls • Proven ability to work independently while being able to build collaborative relationships to develop, maintain and strengthen partnerships with stakeholders, clients and colleagues • Proven time management skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines, and forward plan to ensure work and information is complete and commitments are fulfilled • Demonstrated ability to effectively and independently solve problems whilst ensuring service standards are not compromised • Commitment to personal responsibility, accountable for actions taken and a high attention to detail • Advanced computer literacy (particularly word, excel and email) combined with sound keyboarding skills• An intermediate to strong level of Excel programming.
