Your New Role

You will join a newly established team focused developing the organisations public policy in a variety of areas of interest to both the organisation and the community. This role will require you to utilise your strong written and verbal communication skills in order to engage with a range of stakeholders. You will need to employ your experience in research and undertaking administrative duties while overseeing projects that facilitate sharing information.

It is crucial that you have strong comprehension and writing skills as you will be expected to deliver work within a fast paced environment. Maintain awareness the sensitivities of operating in a public service environment with a high public profile to ensure tact and diplomacy at all times. You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive policy experience.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Developing strategies, policies and protocols.
  • Whole-of- government initiatives including significant, multi-agency integration projects.
  • Shaping the strategic direction of the section and the governance within in the department.
  • Broad awareness of APS and the ability to communicate information to multiple stakeholders.

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking strategies, policies and protocols.
  • High-level written communication skills including ability to produce high quality correspondence, briefings and reports.
  • Experience managing spreadsheets and undertaking analysis of data sets.
  • Highly developed strategic, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • An understanding of departmental issues and the importance of evidence and its use in policy development and evaluation.
  • Liaising and partner management with departmental staff and external partners..
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain.
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job.
