Your new Department

Our client is a large Federal Government Department working on a high profile government initiative which is currently operating in Ceduna, South Australia and in the East Kimberley, Western Australia. The aim of the program is to test a new form of welfare delivery in Australia and consider the best way to support people, families and communities in places where high levels of welfare dependence co-exist with high levels of community harm, such as substance abuse and domestic violence.

Your new role

We are looking for a APS 5 Project/Administration Support who has complex stakeholder engagement and management skills, is politically aware, driven, has a high-level of self-direction, is task and outcomes focussed, has expertise in customer service and issues management and ideally have strong connections within the local community. This is a rare opportunity to work on the ground on an exciting new program

About your role

You will:

The APS5 positions will support the EL1s in their region with:

  • Community stakeholder engagement and diary management
  • Briefing support and preparing correspondence
  • Delivering presentations and responding to queries
  • Customer service skills to support shopfront operations and respond to queries

You will be successful in this role, if you will tick all the boxes below:

Communication –

  • Proficient written and oral communication; is able to modify routine messages to intended recipients;
  • May be required to contribute to the preparation of ministerial and general correspondence including minutes, letters, briefing notes,

IT proficiency –

  • high proficiency in the following software: MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel; will be required to maintain extensive Excel spreadsheets and calendars

Collaboration –

  • Actively contributes to the team, sharing information and resources and provide direct support to the Assistant Director
  • Assist in stakeholder engagement - pre engagement preparation, facilitating the visit, secretarial support

Interpersonal –

  • Provides accurate, timely, consistent and appropriate services to a high standard in complex situations

Organisational skills –

  • Organises work, sets priorities and completes tasks within set timeframes.

Additional Requirements

Travel within the Bundaberg and Hervey Bay region will be a requirement of this role, so willingness to travel, a current licence and ability to drive will be required.
