We are seeking an experienced and passionate Communication and Events Officer to provide a broad range of communication and marketing support for this Government department located in Canberra City.

About the Department

The Strategic Communication team within this department provides strategic advice and support for media, advertising, marketing, events, stakeholder engagement, publications and digital communication including social media and websites

What will you do?

You will oversee the planning and delivery of events managed by the division, including events where the Deputy Prime Minister will be in attendance. As part of the role you will support the development of communication materials and draft compelling content for a range of digital and traditional media.The Communitcationa and Events Offcier is responsible for all aspects of events management, including the development and maintenance of a forward calendar of events for Inland Rail. The position will coordinate and lead contributions to third party conferences where the Department will have a presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of events and third party events where the Department will have a presence
  • Develop, edit and produce the departments e-newsletter on a quarterly basis
  • Prepare event briefs
  • Represent the Department at events
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, third party agencies and suppliers
  • Prepare creative briefs and request for quotations (as required)
  • Prepare media briefs in relation to events, with direction from the media team
  • Prepare event reporting and de-brief workshops to continually improve event delivery for the department
  • Prepare content for event invitations and website publishing

Note: this position requires some travel interstate and to regional areas.
