Randstad is assisting a Federal Government Department to recruit for an APS6 Learning and Development Officer. This temporary contract will be 6 months initially with the view to further extend.

The Team

The Learning and Development team is responsible for learning solutions and services for departmental capability development. Learning solutions include digital and face-to-face training on a variety of learning platforms, and the department’s Learning Management System. The team is part of the Corporate division within the department, and provides support to the department through the HR Service Offer.

The Position

The candidate will provide administrative support associated with the delivery of all learning solutions and services within the department.

While there will be a variety of priorities in this role, tasks will include:

  • Assisting with forums, communities of practice and event coordination
  • Responding to queries received through the group mailbox and hotline
  • Undertaking data quality assurance
  • Developing and reviewing standard operating procedures to assist with internal team processes
  • Managing and coordinating resources and services, including communications material
  • Staff supervision
  • Collaborating and supporting team members as required

This role requires:

  • Demonstrated excellent judgment and decision making skills
  • High level communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated staff management and supervisory skills
  • High levels of personal organisation
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise advice both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently, subject to limited direction against established priorities and practices to deliver quality outcomes
  • The ability to adapt to new software
  • A current police check

Desirable but non-essential requirements include:

  • Learning and Development experience
  • Experience working in government
