SafeWork NSW is the state’s workplace health and safety regulator. We focus on harm prevention and improving the work health and safety culture in NSW workplaces.

We are currently seeking an Assistant State Inspector within the Health and Return to Work directorate to provide technical advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on issues relating to occupational disease, health promotion and/or public health management to reduce work health and safety risks.

Utilise your research skills to identify, plan and deliver strategies in relation to the management of occupational disease, chronic disease and health promotion in the workplace. You will also assist in the conduct of investigations into causes of workplace incidents, injuries and fatalities, and where required, provide specialist advice and reporting regarding compliance with WHS legislation. You will also play a pivotal role in working with and building the capability of internal and external stakeholders and customers.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a minimum of ten units of competency from the Advanced Diploma of Government (Workplace Inspection), and/or equivalent relevant qualification or above in a related field such health, health science, human movement, nutrition, applied science, and/or 3 years + industry experience.
  • Have superior knowledge and experience to provide expert information and advice, education and compliance services that contribute to safety improvements in industry and workplaces
  • Have strong communication skills to proactively engage and influence key industry stakeholders in relation to health in the workplace

Location: Field based position. However, base office locations are Gosford, Baulkham Hills or Liverpool (negotiable with successful candidate)

Salary: Receive an attractive salary package along with packaged motor vehicle options. Salary range starting from $119,083 plus superannuation.
