Our client was established more than 130 years ago and is one of the world’s leading business news organisations, recognised internationally for its authority, integrity and accuracy. They have big global presence and with a remarkable background they are now looking to break into the Australian market.

Position Overview:

The Business Development Manager is a responsible for developing new business in Australia & New Zealand across the corporate, government and education sectors. This will involve the development of an annual sales plan which identifies how the overall target will be achieved and identifying key prospects and gaps that need to be capitalised upon. The Business Development Manager will need to be experienced in creating and implementing sales strategies that drive business. The role involves working with senior decision makers and centralised information professionals on new business initiatives across several industry sectors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the achievement for the new business target set at the start of each New Year.
  • Ensure that top prospects and gaps for new business are identified
  • Build and manage a robust sales pipeline to be regularly reviewed against personal targets
  • To work closely with the marketing team to help prioritise and drive activities
  • Attending networking events
  • Flawlessly manage multiple projects, simultaneously and assist with the creation, management and execution of daily deliverables

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in generating new business. Previous experience selling into corporate space would be highly advantageous
  • Track record in developing new business and meeting or exceeding revenue targets
  • Experience in solution based sales
  • Experience in selling to senior management
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills and ability to speak with confidence about the value proposition
  • High level of initiative and motivation
  • Excellent organisation skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation and closing skills
