Our client, a leading infrastructure organization has recently created an opportunity for an experienced Cost Engineer to join their team on a casual contract with a view to permanency. This organization aim to deliver projects safely, within budget and on time, leaving behind a legacy that will benefit the community and all its stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will need to have good knowledge of parametric cost analysis and all aspects of standard cost engineering functions including, but not limited to, cost controls, analyses, forecasting, cash flow, reporting, benchmarking. In addition they will have experience in Oil and Gas or Infrastructure Projects and be educated to degree standards.

The position responsibilities are, but not limited too:

  • Advise/assist in development of Work Breakdown Structure. This will involve collaborations with project team and understanding the key project deliverable that organises the scope into manageable sections
  • Advise/assist in development of Cost Code structure and budget allocations
  • Assist in JDE job setup and liaise with other finance personnel
  • Assist in daily costing and daily productivity system setup
  • Liaise with project planner
  • Assist in FPM Setup
  • Assist EOM cost reconciliation
  • Assist in preparation of progress measurement and performance monitoring for the project
  • Ensure all data in FPM is true and current populated in line with month end reporting timetable
  • Assist project in preparing monthly financial report
  • Review/audit system implementation on site and provide feedback and recommendation on improvement

Technical Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant industry planning/scheduling experience
  • Extensive relevant experience in a large scale projects
  • Project planning experience on civil, mechanical or E&I engineering projects
  • Extensive experience working with Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage conflicting priorities
