Leading global provider of military training simulation systems requires a Linux Administrator for their Canberra, ACT office.

The Linux Administrator will create Linux architecture, coordinate communication plans and configure and document equipment and co-ordinate all aspects of the communication architecture.

Experience working in a CIOG accredited network environment will be highly regarded.

This position is only available to Australian citizens as the candidate must hold a current Australian Defence Security Clearance at minimum NV1 level, with ability to upgrade to NV2.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Documenting and configuring Linux/Unix systems
  • Analysing system log and identifying potential issues
  • Perform audit of the hardware and software
  • Ensure backups are made
  • Applies operating system updates, patches and configuration changes
  • Adds, removes or updates user account information, including password resets
  • Tunes the performance of the system and troubleshoots reported problems

The key skills required for this role include:

  • Understand the principles of service design with a basic understanding of ITIL service management practices and the ITIL service design model
  • Strong understanding of RedHat Enterprise Linux
  • Be able to work with limited supervision and assist in the delivery of structured training programmes, and deliver complex work support requirement
  • Display personal and professional skills and ability to liaise with other areas of Defence.
  • Deploy on military exercises / site surveys.
