About the role
We are seeking an experienced Medical Secretary to support the surgical activities of a busy medical practitioner from an administrative perspective. Based locally in Fairfield region and reporting directly the practice manager and GP, you will be required to manage and coordinate all administrative aspects of the Dr’s weekly schedule and report writing from procedures performed to patients. This role will be working on a permanent part-time basis, working an average of 2-3 days per week - with flexibility around this and the working hours.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Providing comprehensive administrative support including diary management, mail distribution, word processing, email, answering telephones, filing and document scanning as required for the DR.
  • Type up and finalise medical reports from the Dr’s weekly activities and minor operations using a Dictaphone.
  • Developing and maintaining office systems and patient record management.
  • Appointment and operative scheduling.
  • Liaising with patients, hospital staff, anaesthetists and referrers.

Your profile will demonstrate:

  • Experience with medical terminology, report writing and dictaphone use will be highly regarded.
  • Excellent commitment to providing quality and responsive customer service.
  • Highly developed typing, written and computer skills with an impeccable attention to detail.
  • Extremely pro-active approach to your work and possess a desire to rise to challenges.
  • Superb communication skills and an ability to liaise at all levels whilst maintaining the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
  • Tact and discretion, for dealing with confidential information.
