Due to headcount growth within the business they have a vacancy for a payroll officer in their successful payroll team.

Reporting into a payroll manager, the payroll team is made up of six staff who together produce a payroll for c2,000 staff on SAP.

The company has 5-6 EBAs.

SAP is used throughout the business and the system links to the finance and HR systems seamlessly. Time and attendance is managed at branch level where CSV files are produced for upload into SAP. Therefore SAP is the only system that you’ll use for this role.

The responsibilities are:

  • End to End payroll except for timesheet input
  • Processing the payroll on SAP.
  • Maintaining leave, leave reconciliations, checking data entry, employee separation payments, third party payments.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of the process, payments and records.
  • Ensuring super is paid according to requirements.
  • Ensuring the correct amount of payroll tax is applied to each employee.
  • Providing great customer service to employees when they call or email payroll queries.
  • Pro-actively suggesting process improvements and working with the team and manager to deliver them.
  • At end of financial year ensure accuracy in payment summaries.
  • Completing external reporting such as ABS reporting, assisting the senior payroll officer with GL reconciliations, managing overpayments, assisting with testing.

The manager

  • The manager is a successful payroll manager with over 15 year’s experience coaching and developing payroll staff and teaching SAP.
  • They have a flexible approach to work and are keen to keep you busy and engaged.
  • They’ve been described as approachable and kind, with empathy towards their staff.


  • Payroll experience using a large ERP system and the knowledge and attitude to apply that experience in a fast moving environment.

  • A hardworking and motivated individual, perhaps your job title at the moment is payroll officer, payroll adviser, payroll analyst, payroll consultant, wages clerk or payroll specialist.


  • Interviews will be held ASAP and the successful candidate will be appointed to start in August.
