job description

A prominent leader within their field, our client is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their stable and dynamic team based in Melbourne’s South East suburbs. Our client has a reputation for excellence and an ever growing national footprint. Backed by a large parent company, our client can offer the stability and flexibility of a large corporate, whilst also providing a close knit and welcoming team environment.

Offering free on site parking and an attractive salary package, this is the perfect position for someone wanting to move away from the CBD but still remain within a corporate and professional environment. This is a temporary position with a view to permanency in the future with an immediate start available.

Working within a team of 4 and reporting to a Payroll Team Leader, you will assist the team covering leave periods and managing varying Payrolls. You will be responsible for the full function, end to end payroll processes for weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay runs.

The focus of this role in the beginning will be to assist the team leader as other team members depart and return from leave. Once the holiday period has stabilised, you will then be allocated a specific payroll to take responsibility for and manage.

Previous experience working within payroll is essential and experience working within a high volume environment is advantageous. You will have a strong understanding of the end to end processes behind payroll as well as a sound knowledge of Australian Payroll legislation and the ability to interpret awards and EBA’s.

You will have good communication skills and be confident in dealing with people on a day to day basis. A strong understanding of a major payroll system and previous experience using PayGlobal will be highly regarded. In addition, you will posses excellent organisational and time management skills, as well as a high level of attention to detail, a professional manner and presentation.

If you have any questions regarding the position or you are currently seeking other opportunities within Payroll, please do not hesitate to contact Wallis Summers-Smith on 03 8319 1178 for a confidential discussion.
