The Role

The position is responsible undertaking administrative duties and overseeing projects that facilitate sharing information with the public and between government agencies. You will have experience liaising with state and federal government bodies and have the ability to drive the department’s work plan and delivery outcomes.

It is crucial that you have strong comprehension and writing skills as you will be expected to deliver work within a fast paced environment. You will have the ability to maintain awareness of the sensitivities of operating in a public service environment with a high public profile to ensure tact and diplomacy at all times. You will have relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive policy experience.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Developing strategies, policies and protocols.
  • Whole-of- government initiatives including significant, multi-agency integration projects.
  • Shaping the strategic direction of the section and the governance within in the department.
  • Broad awareness of foreign policy and trade advice

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking strategies, policies and protocols
  • High-level written communication skills including ability to produce high quality correspondence, briefings and reports.
  • Demonstrated experience managing spreadsheets and costings management
  • Highly developed strategic, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • An understanding of departmental issues and the importance of evidence and its use in policy development and evaluation.
  • Liaising and partner management with departmental staff and external partners
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain
  • Ability to learn quickly on the job.
