Our client, a National supplier to the Construction and Mining industry requires the services of a Procurement Officer to join their business on a permanent basis.

Your responsibilities will include:

Assist Supply Chain Manager in the formulation, development and implementation of purchasing strategies with the objective of meeting business requirements for assurance of supply, quality, service, cost and innovation and regulatory compliance.

Source and evaluate suppliers according to price, delivery conditions and quality of their products

Consult with internal customers to lead the procurement/purchasing process to meet business needs

Purchase, under supervision, raw materials, equipment, machinery and supplies at the most favourable prices consistent with desired quality, quantity and delivery

Maintain up to date knowledge of the company's production schedules and related forward planning and expedite authorised purchases in accordance with policy and lead time requirements

Contribute to cost reduction by ensuring minimum delays in providing essential items

Manage relationships and ways of working with key suppliers to ensure continuous improvement in the delivery of goods/services that meet business requirements

Improve systems and processes to deliver greater efficiency and effectiveness of services for company and customers

Cooperate with production, research, engineering and other departments in modification to equipment, product specifications and delivery dates

To be successful you will have:

Current and relevant experience as a Procurement Officer, preferably from electrical/switchboard manufacturing or construction industry.

You will have a strong technical understanding, contract review exposure and solid negotiation skills.

Initiative, a conscientious nature and sense of urgency are crucial to your success in this role.

As is excellent Microsoft Office and spreadsheet capability.
