Key Responsibilites:

  • Provide timely, high-level, technical and specialist advice to government agencies on regulation and governance issues in data linkage, project authorisation processes, linked data project study designs, feasibility and technical issues to support effective use of linked data by government investigators
  • Review applications for data linkage projects by government agencies and provide considered and expert feedback within short timeframes to facilitate linked data projects
  • Work collaboratively with policy stakeholders, investigators and data custodians to optimise the design, authorisation and delivery of linked data for government projects
  • Ensure relevant policy and data areas of NSW Health are provided with timely, expert and strategic briefings on the purpose and status of government data linkage projects and directions and issues relating to government data linkage and analytics
  • Negotiate the scheduling and delivery of concurrent government projects in consultation with government stakeholders
  • Ensure the preparation of appropriate documentation to deliver agreed projects in a timely manner


  • Tertiary qualifications in a health or human service related discipline including qualifications in epidemiology, biostatistics, research or econometrics such as a Master of Public Health or similar
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting quantitative research or analytics projects
  • Capacity to provide high-level verbal advice and briefings to senior government executives
  • Understanding of data linkage and knowledge of administrative data collections held by government agencies
  • Sound understanding of regulation and policy relevant to the collection, use and disclosure of administrative data
  • High level oral and written communication, interpersonal, consultation, negotiation, customer service, analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • High level organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a collaborative team-based work environment.
  • Good problem solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Experience in maintaining a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive material and information.
