This tier one rail infrastructure contractor are widely recognised for delivering some of Australia’s most challenging and iconic capital works projects. With a substantial amount of work in hand in the Sydney metropolitan area they are looking for a Risk and Opportunity Manager for a three month contract position in North Sydney

Working within the pre-contract team for Sydney Metro this role is to develop, implement and maintain the risk and opportunity management framework for the organisation. The key aim is to protect the business against risk whilst maximising commercial opportunities.

Typical duties for this position are as follows:

  • Strategic and operational risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Play an active role in the strategy, business planning and development activities with the aim of identifying and mitigating risk to the organisation.
  • Perform quantitative risk assessments and data analysis to assist in the decision making process
  • Select and maintain appropriate insurances ensuring adequate cover which offer value for money
  • Provide ongoing support and training to other stakeholders within the organisation including the management of the Risk and Opportunity team and developing the risk capability.
  • Actively develop risk management systems to advance the overall business
  • Review safety risk and safety change documentation
  • Facilitate risk workshops, risk assessments, and risk analysis quantitative and qualitative.
  • Oversee the risk and opportunity management for bids on multi billion dollar projects.

Suitable candidates for this role will have substantial experience in the following areas:

  • Risk management processes and practices, and the ability to develop, implement and manage these across multiple projects.
  • Ability to apply risk management practices across multiple projects/programs of work throughout their life cycle.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of commercial, contract and construction management, program development and administration
  • Substantial knowledge of complex rail engineering programs.
  • Knowledge of legislation, policy, processes and practices relevant to the successful delivery of major rail and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Previous management experience.

An immediate start is available on a contract that is initially for three months but which could go for much longer depending on the progress of the bids.
