Your new role

You will be entering a diverse corporate team in a key role that plays a pivotal role in supporting 14 Councillors as they fulfil their role as elected officials. Your new role will manage the administrative and secretarial support function for all Councillors whilst managing confidentially sensitive information. This could include providing the Councillors and the support team with a myriad of confidential secretarial correspondence, administrative and support services to enable the effective use of time, management of key stakeholder relationships and to support the effective management of the office. You will also be required to assist with management of specialised budgets to comply with statutory governance requirements as reflected in the Local Government Act. You will also see yourself stepping up to responsibilities provided by elected Councillors to fulfil their roles whilst working closely with other staff in the induction, learning and development programs.

What you will need to succeed

You will be extremely organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise projects whilst working in a fast paced environment. Your knowledge and experience within Local Government will see you thrive in this role as you provide advice and expert solutions to stakeholders at all levels. Your interpersonal skills are a must if you are to cater for the many personalities you will be working with. You will also have an advanced level of computer competency and adapt to new systems readily. A Tertiary qualification in a business related discipline desirable however experience is equally as desirable. Local Government experience and exposure to working with Councillors will be highly regarded in this key corporate role.
