job description

A Software tester with business analysis skills who also has a background in coordinating resources is currently required for a 2 months contract with option to extend to work on a digital learning assessment platform.

The project will be conducted in two testing phases.

  • The first phase will involve smoke testing of the COTS (Commercial off the shelf) product with business users.
  • The second phase will be to test the customisations delivered as sprints with the business users. User stories for the second phase will be delivered by the external vendor.

The overall objective is to perform gap analysis between the COTS (Commercial off the shelf) system and business requirements, interact with the business stakeholders at various levels, and lead testing of the existing COTS system along with the customizations by the software vendor to meet requirements.

To achieve this goal will involve the following aspects:

  • Interact directly with business stakeholders to elicit information regarding business workflows and clarify existing documented requirements (for subsequent test case development).
  • Conduct gap analysis between detailed requirements and COTS delivered solution.
  • Take part in detailed design workshops conducted by an external vendor that will define a number of customisations to the software platform.
  • Ensure high level of understanding of the COTS and customisations.
  • Lead the smoke testing and user acceptance testing (test plan, test case creation, execution and reporting).
  • Lead and coordinate user acceptance testing by business users and owners, and possibly other testers (as required)
  • Utilise appropriate testing tools and methodologies (e.g. JIRA, HP Quality Centre) for the tracking of testing.
  • Facilitate test plan & test requirement reviews, defect triage meetings and user working groups.

To be successful in this position you will be an experienced Tester/Business Analyst who has experience in writing user stories, determining business requirements, performing gap analysis and in creating test requirements, test plans, test cases and test execution and reporting. You will also have experience in coordinating technical resources such as testers and business analysts. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are a must.
