    My client is primarily a procurement and logistics business that assists businesses in Australia, Papua New Guinea and other Asia-Pacific locations with purchasing and shipping a broad range of consumer products from Asian suppliers.

    Their services incorporate sourcing, project management, quality assurance management, and supply of logistics expertise to customers worldwide. They provide an end-to-end supply chain service from sourcing, manufacturing, ensuring quality and logistics to their customers around the globe. The Company has twenty staff working in offices in Sydney, Hong Kong and China.

    The product supply scope is not limited to a particular product category or industry which means every business is a potential customer.

    About the role:

    Looking for a Business Development Manager to manage the Sydney office and oversee sales operations in the Asia-Pacific region.

    Key deliverables in this role will be to develop and execute strategic marketing and sales plans to grow revenue and maximise profit.

    Travel to other countries will be required.

    Role and responsibilities:


    Strategy, Growth and Partnerships

    • Set strategic directions for business expansion and implement mid-term and long-term growth plans in the regions required
    • Build relationship with industry players and develop strategies to leverage networks for business opportunities and partnership
    • Develop new business with partners in both emerging and developed territories
    • Lead collaboration and development with business heads to identify business prospects and opportunities for profit growth and business expansion
    • Strengthen sales & marketing capability to achieve products competitive advantage as well as to improve financial positions

    Financial Performance

    • Manage the operational and financial performances to meet the overall regional goals and revenue targets
    • Analyze industry and economic trends, identify business opportunities to grow product lines and geographies to ensure sustainable regional growth

    Operational Efficiency

    • Create and manage supplier agreements and deliverables
    • Achieve performance metrics and optimize operating performance
    • Formulate and drive strategic plans that enhance operational and system efficiency
    • Create and contribute to effective internal and external communication channels with reports and forecasts on business metrics
    • Ensure sales orders are delivered to customers efficiently so they are fully satisfied
    • Ensure strategic logistics, transport and delivery solutions are provided to meet performance metrics
    • Review and optimise existing delivery lines to drive customer outcomes and efficiencies.

    Qualifications & Requirements:

    • MBA / Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Commerce or equivalent
    • At least 10 years of relevant working experience in a similar industry
    • Work experience in Asia, and particularly China, in a similar role will be highly regarded
    • A full understanding of culture and etiquette of doing business in China and other Asian countries
    • Strong regional strategic planning ability and organizational skills
    • Excellent leadership and management skills
    • Project management skills will be an added advantage
    • Outstanding analytical and decision-making skills
    • Good communication skills and the ability to work with staff across cultures
    • Good commercial awareness
    • Be visionary and results oriented
