Our valued client is currently seeking a Junior/Intermediate Automation Engineer on a permanent basis located in Kanata, Ontario. Our client is a leading manufacturer of SDN networking and security solutions for Tier 1 Carrier networks.

The Position

This position is about contributing to our growing library of automated tests and extending the frameworks used for execution and result capture. Automation is never an afterthought and a key ingredient in the efficiency of the team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and implement automated test suites including individual test cases and test
• Maintain and evolve test suites as the product code base evolves
• Document the designs in a clear and concise manner
• Monitor test suite output and generate bug reports as warranted
• Develop accurate and timely estimates of design resource requirements and project schedules
• Support and assist other colleagues and customers to fix and improve products
• Continuously work to expand knowledge of the product to become more effective at verification

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience developing Python code in a formal verification environment
• Experience with Python (2.7.x) ideally for automating tests and building test infrastructure
• Ability to clearly communicate in a team environment concerning design ideas, code structure,
and test areas
• Knowledge of the following API based formats; REST, XML, JSON
• Experience working with source control (Git) / defect tracking (JIRA) and continuous
integration systems (Jenkins)
• Adopt best practices when developing automation code including comment documentation,
maintainability and data-driven development
• Familiar with Linux (Ubuntu/Debian)
• Ability to work independently, a quick learner, able to adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills
Excellent presentation, organizational and planning skills
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment. A sense of humor helps!

Education and Experience

• Bachelor of Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• 2+ years of experience in python development in a test environment
