Randstad Engineering is actively seeking an Automation Project Engineer or Specialist for a contract role within one of our clients. This position is based in Calgary, Alberta and is with a producer with assets in Alberta.

The primary role and responsibility for this position is to provide automation discipline engineering expertise and support to
the client's unconventional developments and operations. This position will deliver engineering design, development and support for control systems and intelligent Operational Technology solutions to improve and sustain Operational Safety, Reliability and Costs.

This position is a contract role for a period of 6 months with the potential to extend.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
-Develop and oversee Automation Engineering processes to support effective delivery of captual projects
(Standards, Procedures, Automation project development process, deliverables tracking, QA/QC, FAT, PSSRs,
Milestone tracking, Documentation, Drawings, SAT, Project Commisioning and Handover)
-Steward the appropriate application of Corporate instrument and control standards as it relates to CBU
Pad/Project development
-Provide effective project interface management and processes between Project, Operations, Facilities
Engineering, Construction, CSU (Commissioning and Startup) and System Integrator
-Provide Automation Engineering design input and ACOT review/signoff as needed of Project design/Execution
(System Architecture, Control Philosophy, Narratives, SDK, etc)
-Support Project cost, schedule and scope/deliverables oversight for automation scope of projects
-Oversee and ensure effective Project MOC management and interface between Project and stakeholders for
Automation scope

Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Process Control, Instrumentation)
-Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta preferred
-10 plus years of relevant upstream oil and gas engineering experience supporting operational facilities
-10 plus years’ experience with the design, development and support of Automation using RTUs, PLCs, Safety
Systems, SCADA Telecommunications, SCADA systems
-Strong knowledge of Control Systems engineering design and development including Cause/Effect Matrix,
Shutdown Keys, Narratives and System Function Design Basis as well as QA/QC and Factory Acceptance
Testing
-Experience with EPC/Ms and Automation System Integrator management
-Demonstrated commitment to behavioral based safety programs and ensuring incident and injury free working
conditions.
-Ability to represent the companies interests in a constructive and professional manner during interaction with
internal and external stakeholders.
-Project development including Project Engineering and Project Management including team leadership, scope,
schedule and cost control
-Strong written/verbal and presentation skills and team/inter-team work skills
-Objective and structured thinker with strong aptitude towards developing processes and support systems
-Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
