Our client is an exciting, young organization, (founded 2015), in a unique industry. They are leaders in UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), - DRONES. They have over 600 clients including Samsung, Hatch, Dofasco Steel, General Motors, law enforcement agencies, as well as marketing and entertainment flights for the 2015 NHL playoffs and the Pan Am Games, for whom they develop cutting-edge solutions at the intersection of drones, the cloud, analytics, and AI.


Mandatory Technical Skills & Experience:

• Basic knowledge of the steps, design criteria, sources of risk, and common approaches to the end-to-end engineering design process for back-end or cloud software

• 2-3 years (incl. courses, cocurricular, and work experience) experience in back-end development tools. Relevant design experience includes:

- Design/development using C++ and Python

- Hands on experience in JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, JSON, CSS, Content Management Systems, E-Commerce systems

- Implementing cloud infrastructure software and their integration with front-end or field hardware

- Experience using Docker, implementing accessible analytics into web applications

- Experience with node.js and SQL are particularly important

- Testing, analysis, and design recommendations related to computational performance and user experience

• Familiarity with image editing tools such as Photoshop and GIMP will help with basic image manipulation

A link to a portfolio of your previous work will be considered in high regard compared to applicants without a portfolio.

The following types of design experience will be held in high regard: start-up, university design team, capstone projects, research theses, industry, particularly in aerospace, robotics, drones, or automotive.

Description of Role & Work

The Back-End & Cloud Developer is responsible for applying database and application-layer software skills to implement data analytics and processing and support the push toward advanced aerial analytics. They must have a solid foundation in object-oriented programming for C++ and Python, node.js, SQL, or similar tools. They must also be comfortable working in a fast-paced team with minimal direction, exercising initiative, adaptability, and communication skills with scientific and engineering staff. Creativity, hard work, and perseverance will be necessary on a daily basis.


Any of the following
Graduates with design club or start-up experience, university design team, capstone projects, background in computer science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), or computer engineering, or aerospace, or robotics or automotive.

Good experience with the required core technical competencies
Have a passion for coding
S/W appl/cloud dev exp - as opposed to website dev
Dynamic/creatine/innovative and a positive mindset
Interest/exp with end to end application dev - design, dev, test.
Welcome challenges and find solutions to problems
Self learner and desire to expand knoweledge
Willingness to take on increasing levels of responsibility
Team player, open to sharing ideas, good communication skills
