Randstad is working with a global mining company headquartered in downtown Toronto who is seeking a permanent Accountant/Bookkeeper. Please see the full job description below:

•The accurate and timely processing of the semi-monthly Canadian corporate payroll (Ceridian) of 85 salaried employees and a small semi-monthly US payroll of 5 salaried employees.
•Analysis, auditing, and validation of HR data for new hires, terminations, and transfers, as well as for compensation changes and deduction components.
•The processing of shadow payrolls to meet select employee’s dual income tax obligations, as well as occasional exceptional payroll functions such as gross-ups and application of hypo-tax and tax equalization calculations.
Assisting in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
Bank & Account reconciliations
Month-end and year-end close
Assist in financial analysis and reporting
•Preparation of both monthly Excel spreadsheets detailing the specifics of each payroll and quarterly reports for establishing inter-company charges.
•Accounting processes including journal entries and accrual reporting; supporting the Finance team by responding promptly to questions and reconciliation requests.
•Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of equity compensation taxation.
•Regularly tests payroll processes to ensure compliance with internal controls.
Acts as the primary contact for internal and external payroll and benefits audits.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

A proven ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work within tight timelines.
A dedication to accuracy, a sense of urgency, and most important, a cooperative and positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
