We are currently looking for a Corporate Actions Analyst to work a 6 month assignment in our client's downtown Toronto office, working Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm and earning a competitive rate of up to $27.90 per hour. As a Corporate Actions Analyst you will be responsible for processing voluntary and mandatory corporate reorganizations events to client account. Specifically this will include:

• Obtaining and understanding potential tax implications from a prospectus on particular corporate events. If necessary, calculate the RRSP percentage book values on Reorganizations with multiple components
• Reconciliation of internal control accounts on a daily and monthly basis. Responsible for resolution of all outstanding securities and cash balances within specific capital reporting timelines
• Handling larger and more complex transactions, working within and at times very limited, prescribed time constraints which are non-negotiable. Must complete complex calculations as required.
• Participating in resolving complex and timely issues with clients/peers within industry (external and internal) for purposes of enhancing business effectiveness while mitigating risk to the firm within the scope of the work team
• Monitoring exceptions and proactively works with stakeholders in developing action plan for resolution in a timely manner

• Solid understanding of relevant systems - Depositories (CDS, DTC, BONY, Euroclear) along with MS Word and Excel.
• Strong Knowledge and understanding of own department’s products and services (tenders, offers, rights, warrants, consolidations, name changes, bankruptcies, redemption, mergers and plan of arrangements)
• Solid understanding of the risk and regulatory issues related to the securities industry.
• Banking, brokerage
• Sound knowledge of transactions, work-flow priorities and deadlines of processing areas that interact within the department.
Understanding of Broadridge
• Knowledge of other various departments such as Trade Settlements, Trade Administration, Document Management, Asset Management and Account Management
• Excellent prioritization and multi-tasking skills
• Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
• Strong relationship management skills
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize various tasks and projects
