Field Service Technician
Alberta / Saskatchewan

Contract Role

Our client, a market leader in rotating power equipment within the oil and gas and industrial processing industries is looking to fill a contract Field Service Technician role. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring effective field service support, maintenance, repairs, replacements and upgrades of transformers, radiators, and other electrical equipment, ensure equipment operate effectively, efficiently and safely. Field related experience is essential for the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform assembly, start up and commissioning on transformers, radiators and other electrical equipment : assembly, connection box for HV and LV bushing, fan installation on radiator and electrical connection, uncrate equipment, filling radiators with FR3 fluid; transformer testing, LV switchgear, MV switchgear, relay testing, hipot testing, megger on LV cable, etc.

Document proper operating parameters

Provide a high level of customer service, responding to customer needs and working to fulfill customer expectations

Complete in a timely manner all documents including work orders, installation / inspection reports and all reporting that is required

Maintain a high level of product and production application knowledge

Open to support, sense of ownership, and high commitment to safety

Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

5 or more years of expertise doing transformer works, radiators, start up and commissioning of electrical equipment
Apprenticeship / Trade / College Diploma or equivalent working experience
Possesses a thorough understanding of equipment
Valid driver’s license

Other Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, squat, reach, crouch, and kneel
May stand for long period of time, work in unprotected weather elements, wear steel-toed boots and other PPE
Able to read instructions, numbers and write legibly in English
Must be willing and able to travel
