Our client, a construction and underground infrastructure company, is looking for a Human Resources Manager with a major focus on Health and Safety. This role will have responsibility for all related activities including implementation of policy, completion of training and developing proactive programs to reduce overall risk.

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in Human Resources and have experience in a manufacturing or construction environment with a focus on Health & Safety.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Take ownership of programs and policies to improve the safety performance by working on injury rates, audit results and resolution claims management and overall compliance
• Create and implement H&S initiatives and strategies to reduce risk in areas such as: OSHA, ergonomics, injury/illness reduction, hazard communication, environmental, emergency preparedness, and general employee safety
• Work with managers and employees in accident/incident root cause investigation, regular communication and updates as well as lead any required remediation and prevention activities
• Develop and manage complex H&S improvement programs across branch locations
• Conduct regular audits, inspections and investigations; and ensure that appropriate corrective action and follow up is taken
• Provide support and mentorship to joint health and safety committees to ensure that goals are met
• Maintain all required documentation and records commensurate with legal and company requirements
• Prepare required government agency reports and act as an interface with various governmental agencies and inspectors
• Act as an advisor and subject matter expert to all stakeholders with a high level of customer service

• 7-10 years of HR Generalist experience in construction or manufacturing
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources or related discipline, CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset
• Significant field experience in construction or related industry
• Excellent knowledge of health and safety legislation
• Be known for your leadership and influencing skills along with your agility to excel in an atmosphere of change and growth
