Our Richmond Hill client is seeking a motivated Linux System Administrator / DevOps Engineer with 5+ years of experience in support of a large-size production environment to join our Systems Engineering Team. The ideal candidate must have creativity in problem solving, and eager to learn and grow in the role.

Monitoring and maintenance of complex multicomponent systems
Support and optimization of servers, running applications and services
Troubleshooting the variety of system and network problems; diagnosing and solving hardware and software failures
Analyse, design, and develop modifications to the existing systems
Provide support, including technical documentation and relevant reports
Architect and implement complex IT solutions; adopt the variety of new technologies
Recommend, evaluate, and pilot new tools; build prototypes, PoC, QA, and production environments
Review and document the functionality of existing environments while proposing enhancements and upgrades
Create test plans, installation guides, technical specifications, white papers, and best practice documentation
Work with the databases and storage systems
Setting up monitoring and backup solutions on the supported systems
Script and automate routine tasks and procedures
Work with servers and spare parts inventory
Skills and Capabilities

Degree in Computer Science or in Engineering field, or equivalent experience
Minimum 5 years Unix/Linux administration experience
Minimum 3 years IT experience in an enterprise environment
Strong knowledge of deployment automation tools (Salt, Chef, Jenkins)
Solid knowledge of filesystems (ZFS, EXT4, NTFS, ReFS, LVM)
Solid knowledge of CIFS, Samba, NFS, FTP, iSCSI protocols
Strong knowledge of SQL databases
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, networking, and balancing
Strong knowledge of Apache httpd, NginX, and Tomcat servers
Strong knowledge of monitoring tools (Zabbix, PRTG, collectd, Grafana, OSSEC)
Understanding of security protocols: TLS, HTTPS, SSH
Advanced scripting skills: Python, Bash, Perl, Go
Familiarity with other operating systems (i.e., MS Windows, MacOS, BSD, etc.)
Familiarity with NoSQL databases and JSON based systems
Working experience with Git
The ability to effectively prioritize your workload and manage multiple daily tasks
Excellent written and oral communication in English

Experience in support of ElasticSearch, Kibana, Logstash
Experience in support of InfluxDB, Prometheus, TSDB
Experience in support and application of MySQL and MongoDB
Experience in application and maintenance of TSDB, Influx DB, Prometheus
Experience in maintenance of Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Varnish, Redis
Experience in designing tools and reports for operations and business users
Experience in hardware inventory management
Experience in SAN, NAS, and data storage administration
Experience with Windows PowerShell
