We are seeking an Operations Manager for a well established heavy machinery client of ours in the Vancouver area. The responsibilities of this Operations Manager include coordination of order management, sourcing, logistics, inventory control, budgeting, safety, training programs, implementing best practices, personnel development, and general management responsibilities.


Responsibilities:

•Assists in the development and implementation of strategic plans to improve operational activity and ensure the provision of goods on a long-term basis.
•Conducts necessary departmental budget reviews to ensure compliance to annual targets.
•Provides leadership to the business unit which complies with and enforces our clients code of business conduct.
•Identifies and implements Process Improvement that drives operational efficiencies and key performance indicators for the business unit.
•Develops short term and long-term resource/staffing plans needed for optimal operational performance and costs.
•Monitors and ensures all product deliveries, internal and external, are on time and in full.
•Reviews orders and accordingly schedule/plans departmental operations, sets priorities and sequences for execution.
•Drives both efficiency and productivity enhancements across departments focusing on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost Standards..
•Implements rigorous supply chain plans including work transfer to multiple internal and external vendors.
•Meets with suppliers and manufacturing facilities on a regular basis to monitor and manage performance, ensuring outcomes meet set expectations and aligns with market norms.
•Aligns supplier control environment with our internal framework. Sets action plan with the supplier to reach targets and monitor its implementation.
•Monitors and measures the quality of product through the active management of a Quality Management System and promotes the use of quality process and practice.


Qualifications:

•Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, preferably in a technical or management discipline.
•10 plus years of relevant management experience in multi-functional operations, manufacturing, or similar related industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Demonstrated experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies.
•Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and applicable local government regulations.
•Ability to write reports, present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors and employees.
•Must be fluent in English.
•Must have a very high level of communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal and managerial skills.
•Ability to negotiate contracts with suppliers is pertinent to scope of position.
•Proficient in computer skills and applications such as Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Power Point).
•Oracle, SAP or other significant ERP system knowledge a plus.
